Our Story

Healthcare services imageThe story of San Antonio Family Chiropractic began with a simple, powerful idea: to create a space where families could receive truly exceptional chiropractic care that felt both professional and deeply personal. Growing up in the vibrant community of San Antonio, our founder witnessed firsthand the immense relief that skilled chiropractic care could provide, not just for adults, but for children and seniors alike. This sparked a passion to serve the very community that had shaped him. We knew that to make a real impact, we needed to be more than just a clinic; we needed to be a resource, a trusted neighbor, and a cornerstone of health on the city's northwest side, right here on Huebner Road. The practice was founded on the principle that the body is an interconnected system, and that holistic care is the most effective path to lasting wellness. Since our doors opened, we have dedicated ourselves to building a practice where every patient feels respected, where their story is heard, and where their health goals are our top priority. Our journey is intertwined with the lives of the families we've had the privilege of serving, and we look forward to continuing to grow alongside our incredible community.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is chiropractic effective?

Chiropractic care can help you remove postural imbalances and structural misalignments that can build up over time. It aims to restore your body's own ability to be healthy. For your body to function at its best, your nervous system must be clear of interference. By restoring proper spinal function through adjustments, the pressure on nerves caused by misaligned vertebrae is reduced, which can support optimal nervous system function and improved well-being.

Why should I see a Chiropractor?

Chiropractic care is not just for back and neck pain. It can be an excellent way to help keep your body at its peak performance. We use a holistic approach that includes adjustments, nutritional guidance, and overall wellness support. Many people find that chiropractic care can help with a wide range of issues, from general aches and stiffness to conditions like fibromyalgia.

What is a subluxation?

A subluxation is a term used in the chiropractic profession to describe when a vertebra becomes misaligned or shifts out of its normal position. These can be caused by various issues, from minor slips to more significant trauma. When a vertebra is subluxated, it may put pressure on nerves and surrounding tissues. This pressure can interrupt the natural pathways of messages sent from the brain, potentially affecting how your body functions.

How does chiropractic care work?

Chiropractic is an overall way of looking at the human body, built on the idea that the body is self-sustaining and self-healing. This process is controlled by the brain through its connection to the spinal cord and the extensive network of nerves throughout the body. When this system isn't functioning at its peak, the body’s overall performance can be lacking. Instead of using drugs or medicine to treat symptoms, we focus on identifying and correcting the source of the problem. While it's often thought that a chiropractor is only here to treat back and neck pain, we are also called on to help with a variety of other issues, including headaches and general muscle tension.

What is a chiropractic adjustment, and is it safe?

An adjustment, or manipulation, is the minor movement of vertebrae in the spine. The goal is to gently realign vertebrae that may have shifted out of place. When these vertebrae are misaligned, it can affect the entire system, from your muscles to your central nervous system. Without proper alignment, your body may not function at its peak. An adjustment is a controlled, specific pressure from the chiropractor, using their hands or a specialized instrument, to guide a vertebra back into place. This is often a quick movement and is generally not uncomfortable. The popping sound you might hear is just the release of gas from the joint, similar to cracking your knuckles. When performed by a licensed professional, chiropractic adjustments are widely considered a very safe form of care.

What can I expect from my visit to a chiropractor?

Your first visit to our practice is all about us getting to know you. We'll take the time to discuss your health history, your current condition, and your wellness goals. We may also perform a physical examination and take any necessary x-rays to help us understand the cause of your discomfort. From there, we'll work together to create a personalized plan of action tailored specifically for you.

What results can I expect from treatment?

Chiropractic care is based on the idea of removing imbalances to allow your body to heal itself. For this to happen, the network of nerves and signals from your brain, down your spinal cord, must be able to flow freely. We have the ability and skill to help remove these interruptions and allow the body to perform as it was designed to. While there are many potential structural causes for misalignment—such as a past car accident, a sports injury, or a fall—chemical and lifestyle factors like a poor diet may also contribute. Our goal is to help you get back on track both structurally and holistically, so your body can function at its best.
